Vorno is a celebrated Village in the Lucchesia area well known for its exquisite water and its welcome cooling breezes off the hills in the hot summer months. Villa Michaela is surrounded by Tuscan hills, covered in olive groves and fruit trees. The drive to the villa is lined with ancient stone walls, grape vines, Italian Cyprus trees and stunning views of the surrounding mountains.There are many well-known Villas built centuries ago by Lucchese aristocrats wishing to escape the intense heat of summer with no through traffic. The Villa Michaela estate is situated directly on the Via Francigena, the centuries old pilgrims route running from Canterbury to Rome. As a result, there is amazing hiking from the house. The other great claim to fame of our Village is its strong affiliation to the invention of the internal combustion engine (motore a scoppio) by two Vorno residents Barsanti and Matteucci. We are also very fortunate to have a wonderful family-owned trattoria-A Bimbotto- within a five-minute walk from the villa. The restaurant offers a huge garden, traditional Tuscan fare prepared under the guidance of Nicola, the owner, using his grandmother's recipes. They are popular for making the best pizza ever known.

Guest Access

Guests have access to the tennis court, swimming pool, BBQ and bar. There is also a communal kitchen available to all of our guests. These are communal spaces so other guests may be using them. Pool towels are provided. We also invite our proficient musical guests to use the piano in our private chapel.

The Paarl Suite is a respite set amongst the hills of Tuscany. The custom decorated room offers a large comfortable bed with custom bedding. There is a loveseat and additional seating available in the room where you can relax after a day of sightseeing in Tuscany. The tile floor is covered with a custom rug to add to the coziness and comfort of the room. The original wood beam ceilings were left to incorporate the history of Villa Michaela in a more modern setting. The soft color of the room adds to the tranquility of the garden view. The Paarl Suite has an en-suite bathroom complete with a shower and bathtub for the ultimate relaxation. The bathroom measures 6 sq meters The Paarl Suite measures 15 sq meters. This room is located on the first floor so the ability to climb stairs is required. The Paarl Suite shares the common sitting room, common kitchen and common dining room with other guests who may be staying in Casa Una.

Other Details to Note

Free parking for 40 cars across the road in Villa's car park. Free fast fibre optic WI-FI on the entire property. Al fresco lunches can be ordered poolside. We can book massages, yoga, pilates, tennis instructor and cooking classes if desired. There is an honesty bar on the property where guests can buy bottles of wine, drinks and gifts. Continental breakfast is available for 15€ per person. It must be ordered 2 days in advance.

We have private parking in front of our property. We are based in center of Vorno, just next to the famous parish church, local trattorias, and a touristic center with a bar. We are 10 minute drive from the center of Lucca and 25 minute drive from Pisa. There are many beaches within driving distance-a half an hour or more from the Villa. There is also a public bus service going to Lucca. You can reach Florence in 1 hour and Versilia in 40 min, Siena and Cinqueterre are also close enough for a day trip.
